Solana transaction fees consist of two components. The base fee is 5,000 lamports (0.000005 SOL) per signature — approximately $0.0005 at $100/SOL. An optional priority fee measured in micro-lamports per compute unit can be added to boost confirmation speed during high-demand periods.
50% of every base fee is permanently burned, reducing SOL supply. The remaining 50% goes to the validator. Priority fees go 100% to the validator. This structure rewards network participants while maintaining predictable costs for users.
